What diet to lose belly fat?

By | July 30, 2008

If you want a diet to lose belly fat there are a couple of things you need to know.  First there isn’t a specific diet that will help you to only lose your belly fat.  This is because it’s not possible to target fat loss in any one particular area of your body.  What is possible though is to focus on losing fat from your body generally and if you’re someone who has excess fat stored on their stomach, this fat will reduce.

So, your focus needs to be on losing fat and there are two ways to achieve this.  Ideally, you want to do both in combination.

One is the amount of activity and exercise that your body does and the other is the food that you eat.  The more active you are in a day, the more your body will use up, this being fuel such as the food that you’re consuming.  Taking exercise will also burn this fuel up and  some forms of exercise will also continue to burn fat long after you’ve finished doing the exercise.

Exercises that continue to burn fat

Most forms of exercise help to speed up your metabolism and this is an important factor
in fat burning.  Any increase in the amount of physical activity you’re doing will all help.  Strength training that will increase your muscle mass is a great way to burn more fat.  This is because the more muscle you have in your body, the more fat that is burnt during a normal day.

The diet for losing belly fat

I don’t believe in the word diet because for most people diets don’t work as they’re far too restrictive and difficult to stick to.  I suggest that instead you focus on healthy eating and making changes to improve this at a rate that suits you and your lifestyle.  Take it at your pace, fit in these changes to the way you live and you’ll find they stick with you much easier.

One area of eating healthier that I suggest you consider improving is the amount of foods that you eat that contain saturated fat.  Ideally you want to reduce your intake of saturated fat as this type of fat is the most unhealthy.
