Fat loss: Can a jump rope help?
By | July 31, 2008
Are you fed up with your wobbly belly or perhaps others parts of your body that aren’t toned the way you would like? You know that you need to do something to get rid of some of this fat and could it be that a jump rope could help you?
Yes, using a jump rope can help you in many ways to lose fat. Using a jump rope gives a great cardio workout which is essential for burning calories. One of the great benefits of using a jump rope as part of your workout is that you can easily vary the intensity of the exercises you’re doing. And this is where fat burning can really kick in.
Jump rope for high intensity and fat burning
Taking your workout to a higher intensity for a short burst of time kicks your body into fat burning mode. This higher intensity which in simple terms means working as hard as you possibly can is mixed with lower intensity use of the jump rope. This way method of working out is know as interval training. So, as you’re using the jump rope you can choose to throw in some sudden bursts of working extremely hard then back to normal jumping rope or skipping.
Jump ropes are convenient for fat burning
As a piece of exercise equipment, jump ropes are quite small so they’re not going to take up a whole load of room if you decide to use one at home. Using one at home is something I’d recommend, although probably outside, as broken household fittings isn’t the goal here.
The reason for suggesting this is most people find it much easier to find a quick slot in their busy days, take the jump rope out and get started. Its not going to take a whole load of time to get a beneficial workout from your jump rope. I’ve found that many people don’t exercise because of the commitment involved of going to a gym or exercise class, and often the time restrictions that you need to fit in with.
Lets say you’ve had to work 10 minutes late today and that means you’ve again missed your exercise class. The jump rope fits in perfectly time wise now. I do believe in making a commitment to exercise and just because you don’t need to use a jump rope at a certain time of the day as you would when attending a class, you still need to decide when you’re going to use it. Otherwise, you’ll find the days have passed, your jump rope hasn’t been used and you’re no closer to your goal of losing fat.
